幼稚園の園庭のど真ん中に立つヒマラヤスギは、冬の澄んだ空気の中で、凛とした姿を見せています。

ヒマラヤスギ（ヒマラヤシーダー）は、ヒマラヤ山脈原産のマツ科の常緑針葉樹で、高くまっすぐに伸びる幹と、枝先がやわらかく垂れ下がる優美な姿が特徴です。葉は針のように細く、淡い青緑色を帯び、ほのかに清々しい香りが漂います。

一年を通して葉を落とさず、寒さの中でも静かに緑を保ち続けるヒマラヤスギ。その姿から、海外では「強さと忍耐」「永遠」「守り」といった意味が重ねられてきました。変わらず立ち続ける姿は、私たちに安心と静かな力を与えてくれます。

クリスマスは、救い主イエス・キリストがこの世にお生まれになったことをお祝いする時です。教会では、今年もクリスマス礼拝を迎えました。

暗さの中にこそ灯される小さな光が、やがて大きな希望となって世界を照らしていく——その恵みを心に受け取り、礼拝の中では洗礼式も行われ、共に主のご降誕を喜ぶひとときとなりました。

礼拝の後に愛餐会が行われ、午後からは実に6年ぶりとなる祝会も開かれ、幼児から高齢の方々まで世代を超えて集い、賛美や笑顔に満ちた楽しい時間を共に過ごしました。

それぞれの歩みと想いが重なり合い、主の恵みの中でひとつとされることを

改めて心深く味わう一日となりました。

　24日にはクリスマス・イヴ礼拝も行われ、たくさんの賛美歌を、声高く心を合わせて賛美しました。聖堂に響く歌声は、キリストのご降誕の喜びをあらためて深く感じさせてくれました。

礼拝後のティータイムでは、久しぶりに顔を合わせた懐かしい方々との再会や、新しく教会を訪ねてくださった方々との出会いが与えられ、笑顔と語らいに満ちたひとときとなりました。

礼拝と交わりの中で過ごす時間は、教会で迎えるからこそ味わえる、特別なクリスマスとなるのではないでしょうか。

「二人または三人がわたしの名によって集まるところには、わたしもその中にいるのである。」（マタイによる福音書 18章20節）

共に集い、祈り、賛美し、喜びを分かち合うその真ん中に、主が共にいてくださる——その確かな約束を胸に、恵みに満ちたクリスマスとなりました。

The Himalayan cedar standing at the very center of the kindergarten playground shows a dignified presence in the clear winter air.

The Himalayan cedar (Himalayan cedar tree) is an evergreen conifer of the pine family, native to the Himalayan Mountains. It is characterized by its tall, straight trunk and graceful branches that gently droop at the tips. Its needle-like leaves have a soft blue-green hue, and a faint, refreshing fragrance can be sensed nearby.

Keeping its green foliage throughout the year, even in the cold of winter, the Himalayan cedar has come to symbolize meanings such as “strength and perseverance,” “eternity,” and “protection” in various cultures. Standing steadily without change, it gives us a sense of peace and quiet strength.

Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. This year as well, the church welcomed the Christmas worship service.

Receiving in our hearts the grace of the small light that is kindled in the darkness and grows into a great hope that illuminates the world, we rejoiced together in the Lord’s Nativity. During the service, a baptism was also held, making it a truly blessed time of celebration.

After the worship service, a fellowship meal was shared, and in the afternoon, a celebration was held for the first time in six years. From young children to elderly members, people of all generations gathered together and spent a joyful time filled with hymns and smiles.

It was a day in which we were reminded anew, and felt deeply in our hearts, that our individual journeys and thoughts are brought together and made one through the grace of the Lord.

On the 24th, a Christmas Eve service was also held, and we lifted our voices together to sing many hymns. The songs that filled the sanctuary allowed us to experience once again the deep joy of Christ’s birth.

At the tea time following the service, there were happy reunions with familiar faces we had not seen for some time, as well as new encounters with those visiting the church for the first time. It was a warm and joyful time of conversation and shared smiles.

Time spent in worship and fellowship such as this may truly be what makes Christmas celebrated at church so special.

“For where two or three are gathered in my name,

there am I in the midst of them.”

(Matthew 18:20)

As we gathered, prayed, sang praises, and shared our joy together, we were reminded of the sure promise that the Lord is present among us.

Holding this promise in our hearts, it was a Christmas filled with grace.
