2025 04 13 おお振りそで（おおふりそで）

　復活の丘の階段付近にある、純白で大ぶりのそれはそれは美しい椿です。

年々咲く花が大きくなっているような気がするのは…私だけでしょうね😅

「おお振りそで」

この椿の事はその名で呼んでいたので、てっきりこれがこの椿の「名」だと思っていましたが、いろいろ調べていたら、どうやら「伊勢太白」という名前でした😅

いつからか勝手に命名しててそして何がきっかけでこの呼び方をしていたのか全然わかりませんが。。。

昨年のイースターの頃には同じように、衣にまつわる名を持つ「袖隠し」という椿の事を書いています、白い大ぶりの椿が咲くのはこの時期なのかもしれないですね！

さて、この「おお振りそで」改め「伊勢太白」ですが、緒形先生の「花こよみ」に記されていました！

そこには復興教会の納骨堂がつくられた時の事、願い、またできた当時の様子がえがかれ、

「今日イースターに初めての納骨の方々のためにと、大柄の純白八重椿伊勢太白を参道のそばに植えて貰った。」（1971年）と記され、この花がこの場所でその頃から 咲き続けていることがわかります。

今は復活の丘の南側に納骨堂へ続くスロープがありますが、その昔は丘の階段を上り十字架のすぐ後ろにあった階段を下り、納骨堂へはいっていました。幼いときドキドキしながらおりたことを思い出します。

白い椿の花言葉は「完全なる美しさ」「申し分ない魅力」「至上の愛らしさ」。だそうです。

来週の日曜日はイースターです！

この水曜日には教会の有志たちで、行われている毎週のお掃除プラスさらに磨きをかけて、甦りの朝を待ち望む人々のために訪れるすべての方の事を思い、納骨堂をきれいにしました👍

イースターの準備は着々と進められていますよ🐣。

The camellia near the stairs of the Hill of Resurrection is pure white, large, and truly beautiful.

It feels like the blossoms get bigger every year… or is that just me? 😅

I’ve always called this camellia “Oh-Furisode” (“long-sleeved kimono”).

I had assumed that was its actual name, but after doing a bit of research, I found out it's actually called「 Ise Taihaku」 😅

At some point, we must have just started calling it that, and now I can’t even remember what made us choose that name…

Around Easter last year, I wrote about another camellia with a name related to clothing—“Sodekakushi” (“Sleeve-Hider”)—so perhaps it’s natural for these large, white camellias to bloom around this time of year.

As for this “Oh-Furisode,” or rather,「 Ise Taihaku 」, it’s actually mentioned in Pastor Ogata’s Hana Koyomi (“Floral Calendar”)!

In it, she wrote about the building of the columbarium at the Kyoto fukkou Church, the hopes and prayers surrounding it, and the scene when it was completed.

her notes:

“Today, on Easter, in honor of those being interred for the first time, a large, double-flowered pure white camellia—Ise Taihaku—was planted beside the sacred pathway.” (1971)

So, this flower has been blooming here ever since then.

Nowadays, there’s a slope on the south side of the Hill of Resurrection that leads to the columbarium, but back then, people ｗalked up  the sacred pathway of the hill, then descended a staircase just behind the cross to reach it.

I remember nervously going down those steps when I was little.

The language of white camellias includes: “Perfect beauty,” “Flawless charm,” and “Supreme loveliness.”

Next Sunday is Easter!

This Wednesday, the church volunteers added some extra polish to our usual weekly cleaning, preparing the space with care and prayer for all who will come in anticipation of the Resurrection morning. 👍

2025 04 06 糸水仙（イトズイセン）

 

イトズイセン（糸水仙）

別名　イトハスイセン（糸葉水仙）カオリスイセン（香り水仙）

ヒガンバナ科スイセン属の多年草で花期は3月～4月頃。

南ヨーロッパや(ポルトガル、スペイン)原産。日本には江戸時代に入ってきたそうです。

花言葉は「騎士道精神」「私の愛に応えて」

葉が糸のように線形で細いことから。この名が付きました。

葉が細く線状（剣状）で、強い芳香があるのが特徴です。

目下、教会の門から駐車場に続く道わきに、鉢の中で咲いています。

以前、教会の近くに住まわれてた婦人がお引越しの時に譲ってくださった思い出の花だと聞きました。高さの低い小さな鉢に昨年は少ししか咲かなかったらしいですが、今年はとっても華やかです。

鉢のすぐ上に花が咲き、葉は花よりはるか上に細く伸びています。たまに別の場所に鉢ごと移動することもある。と聞き、鉢を手に「花を愛でる撮影スポット」を探しうろうろ。。門の柱の上に置いたりしていると、通りかかった知り合いのママさんに「何してんの？」なんて聞かれ、「この水仙みたことある？」なんて話していたら、風がふわっと。。

「いい香り～！」二人の声が重なり、ちかくで鶯が「ホーホーホケキョ」

春ですね～！

その後アーケードのベンチのところや、教会入り口、いろいろ置いてみましたが、しっくりくるような、来ないような。。結局、もともと置いてあったところに戻りました😆。

今週は京都のあちらこちら桜が満開です！

満開の桜を楽しむのも良き、時に目線を低く足元の春を見つけるのもいいですね～

今年度、初めの日曜日は暖かい春日和でスタート！主からのたくさんの恵みに感謝し、歩む日々でありますように、今この時も災害の痛みがあるところに主の助けと慰めがありますようにお祈りします。

Itosuisen (Thread Narcissus)

Also known as Itohasuisen (Thread-leaved Narcissus) and Kaorisuisen (Fragrant Narcissus).

It is a perennial plant in the Amaryllidaceae family and the Narcissus genus, with its flowering period from March to April.

Native to Southern Europe (Portugal, Spain) , it is said to have been introduced to Japan during the Edo period.

The flower language is "chivalric spirit"and "respond to my love."

The name comes from the fact that its leaves are thin and thread-like.

The leaves are narrow and linear (sword-shaped), and it is characterized by a strong fragrance.

Currently, it is blooming in a pot along the path leading from the church gate to the parking lot.

I heard that a lady who once lived near the church gave it to the church when she moved away, making it a flower full of memories. Last year, it bloomed only a little in the small pot, but this year, it is blooming beautifully.

The flowers bloom just above the pot, and the leaves stretch far above the flowers, thin and long. I heard that the pot is sometimes moved to different places. Holding the pot in hand, I wandered around looking for a "flower appreciation spot" for photos. While I was placing it on top of a pillar at the gate, a friend of mine passing by asked, "What are you doing?" When I replied, "Have you seen this narcissus?" the wind gently blew...

"It smells so good!" Our voices overlapped,  and nearby, a Japanese bush warbler sang, "Ho-ho-ho-ke-kyo."

Ah, it’s spring!

After that,I tried placing it in different spots, like on the bench in the arcade and by the church entrance, but it didn’t quite feel right. In the end, I returned it to the original spot. 😆 

This week, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom all around Kyoto!

Enjoying the full bloom of sakura is wonderful, it’s also nice to look down and discover the spring at our feet.

The first Sunday of this year started with a warm spring day! I give thanks for all the blessings from the Lord, and I pray that in these days, there may be help and comfort for those suffering from disasters.

2025 03 30 スノーフレーク

 

 　スノーフレーク（学名：Leucojum aestivum）は、ヒガンバナ科の植物の1つ。和名はオオマツユキソウ（大待雪草）、水仙のような葉を持ち、スズランのようなベル形の花を下向きに咲かせることからスズランスイセン（鈴蘭水仙）とも呼ばれています。ベル型の花びらの先端にある緑のドット柄は特徴的でふんわりとしたスカートみたいでとてもかわいいですね。でもヒガンバナ科の植物は毒があるので食べてはいけません。

学名に含まれるLeucojumはギリシア語で「白いスミレ」を意味し、すみれに似た良い香りを持つとの事でした。

「スノーフレーク」の花言葉は

純潔、汚れなき心、純粋、皆を引きつける、魅力、清らか　です。

教会から幼稚園に続く道、水仙を挟んでスノーフレイクが咲き始めています。

本当に葉はそっくりです。

この日曜日は今年度最後の日曜日！教会学校ではこの年度、頑張って出席した人の表彰式がありましたよ！今年も皆勤を目指して頑張って通った子供たちがは6人！みんなよくがんばったね～🎉

来週からは新年度に入り、皆勤目指しての1歩となります。神様の恵みいっぱいの新年度スタートできますようにお祈りしています

　The Snowflake (scientific name: Leucojum aestivum) is a plant in the Amaryllidaceae family. Its Japanese name is Oomatsuyukisou  (大待雪草), and it’s also called Suzuran Suisen (鈴蘭水仙), meaning "Lily of the Valley Narcissus,"due to its bell-shaped flowers that hang down, resembling lilies of the valley, and its leaves which are similar to those of daffodils.  The green dots at the tips of the bell-shaped petals are a distinctive feature, and they look like a fluffy skirt, making them very cute. However, since plants in the Amaryllidaceae family are   toxic, it’s important not to eat them.

 The genus name Leucojum comes from Greek, meaning "white violet," and it is said to have a pleasant fragrance, similar to violets.

The flower language of the Snowflake is:

Purity, innocence, a pure heart, attracting everyone, charm, and chastity.

The path from the church to the kindergarten is lined with daffodils, and the snowflakes are beginning to bloom. The leaves really do look very similar.

 This Sunday marked the last Sunday of the school year! There was an award ceremony for the children who made a great effort to attend church school throughout the year. Six children achieved perfect attendance this year! Well done, everyone! 🎉

Next week, the new school year will begin, and it will be a fresh start toward aiming for perfect attendance once again. I pray that the new year will start with God's abundant grace.

2025 03 23 桜桃（おうとう）

 

　「桜桃」昔は果実のことを桃と指していたそうで、桜の花を咲かせたあとに果実を実らせる木＝桜桃と書かれるようになったのだそうです。この果実を通称「サクランボ（桜ん坊）」と言っています。甘酸っぱくて美味しい実をつけるさくらんぼの木は、「セイヨウミザクラ（西洋実桜）」と呼ばれる海外で誕生した桜です。日本には約10種類の桜が自生し、さらに品種改良で生まれた栽培用の品種は100種を超えるといわれています。その多くは、食用ではなく観賞用として育てられ、観賞用の桜にはほとんど実がなりません。

　幼稚園の今咲いている「桜桃」にはおいしいサクランボが実ります。子供たちは「サクランボの花」と呼び、しだれ桜やソメイヨシノなどの桜の花とは区別しています。

そしてこの桜桃（サクランボの花）は、この敷地内「さくら」の中では一番早く、この卒園式の頃にとても美しく咲きます。白くとても美しい花ですが、この実（サクランボ）はきれいな赤い色をしています。

　今の時期が満開、そしてその実がなるのは毎年ゴールデンウィークの頃です。サクランボ狩りは子供たちにとって、梅雨に入る前のとっても楽しくおいしいイベントです！

　復活の丘、納骨堂の入り口のところにありますよ。

　サクランボの木を育て、果実を実らせるのはなかなかむつかしい！と聞きますが、実のところ時期が来れば、この近辺にサクランボが実っているのをよく見かけますよ！この山科はもしかしたらサクランボが育ちやすい気候なのかもしれませんね。

　　桜桃の花言葉は「小さな恋人」「幼い恋」「善良な教育」「上品」「あなたに真実の心を捧げる」などがあります、サクランボは甘美で「楽園の果実」とされる一方で、実の赤さが血を連想させ、キリストの受難や死を暗示する場合もあるとの事で。ヨーロッパの宗教画にもサクランボが描かれていたりします。

「あなたに真実の心をささげる」この受難節真っただ中に満開を迎える「桜桃(さくらんぼの花）」を思いつつ、この花言葉は「祈り」だな～。今年のイースターは4月20日です。

It is said that the fruit of the cherry tree was once referred to as "peach(桃）" in the past, and the tree, which produces fruit after blooming cherry blossoms, came to be called "outou (桜桃)". This fruit is commonly known as "sakurambo" (さくらんぼ), or cherry. The sakurambo tree, which bears sweet and sour delicious fruit, is a variety of cherry tree that originated overseas, called "Western Cherry Blossom" (Seiyou Mizakura). In Japan, there are about ten species of native cherry trees, and the number of cultivated varieties, created through breeding, is said to exceed 100. Most of these are grown for ornamental purposes, not for consumption, and ornamental cherry trees rarely bear fruit.

The sakurambo tree currently blooming in the kindergarten yields delicious cherries. The children call it "sakurambo no hana" (cherry blossom), distinguishing it from the flowers of other cherry trees like shidare sakura or Somei Yoshino.

This sakurambo tree blooms the earliest among all the "sakura" (cherry trees) on the property, and its flowers bloom beautifully around the time of the graduation ceremony. The flowers are pure white and very beautiful, while the fruit (sakurambo) ripens into a lovely red color.

At this time, the sakurambo tree is in full bloom, and the cherries usually ripen around G W. Cherry-picking becomes a very fun and delicious event for the children just before the rainy season starts!

You can find the sakurambo tree at  the Resting Hill and the entrance of columbarium.

It is said that growing sakurambo trees and producing fruit is quite difficult, but in reality, cherries are often seen growing around here when the season comes! Perhaps the climate of Yamashina is particularly suitable for growing sakurambo.

The flower language of sakurambo includes "little lover," "childish love," "good education," "elegance," and "I offer you my true heart." While cherries are considered a sweet and "paradise fruit," their red color sometimes evokes the image of blood, and they can also symbolize the suffering and death of Christ. It is said that cherries are depicted in European religious paintings as well.

"I offer you my true heart" – thinking of this flower language while looking at the sakurambo flowers that bloom during the midst of Passion Week, it feels like a "prayer."  Easter will be on April 20th this year!

2025 03 16 スミレ

 

　

スミレは日当たりのよい草地や田畑のわき、堤防、道端などに生える多年草です。 そしてその仲間は世界に広く分布しています。日本の南北に細長い列島では、その分布率は世界一でおよそ250種が自生しているといわれています。

　スミレの名前の由来は、花の形が大工さんの使う墨壺(別名墨入) に似ているので、「すみいれ」の「い」が省略されたものといわれています。

　春の花として大人も子供からも愛されるこの花ですが、植物学的には少し変わっていて、せっかく咲いた花には種ができず、初夏を過ぎてからの蕾のような花(閉鎖花)が出て、開花しせず種を作り。それは熟し乾燥すると三つに裂け、種子をはじき飛ばします。種子の一端に蟻が好む脂肪の固まりがついていて、アリが種を運んでくれる「蟻散植物」だそうです。

タネで増えるほか、ランナーと呼ばれる茎でも増えていき、繁殖力はとても旺盛なのです。

　はじめ一株しかなかったスミレがあれよあれよと知らぬ間に、その所を埋め尽くしているなんてこと、よくありますよ。

すみれといえば、お菓子になる花

ウィーンの伝統皇室菓子「すみれの花の砂糖漬け」は有名ですね！エリザベート皇妃が愛して好んで食べたものだとされています。

お花の砂糖漬けってなんだか優雅な感じがします。クイーンのお菓子といってよいですかね、お紅茶のお供というか、おしゃれをして訪れるアフタヌーンティーパーティーなどにぴったりでは？！

・・お庭にこんもり増えつつあるスミレの株を見つつ。私の優雅な妄想が広がります☁

すみれの花は復興教会のお庭、またその枝幼稚園のあちらこちらで咲いていますよ～写真も深谷先生が敷地内のどちらかで撮られたもので。たくさん咲いているとの事でした

そしてこの卒園の季節には、なくてはならない大切な役割もあるのです！

2025 03 09 レンテン ローズ

レンテンローズ(Lenten rose)

早春に咲き、冬の終わりを告げる花です。キンポウゲ科クリスマスローズ属の常緑多年草

　この名前は、 キリスト教のアッシュ・ウェンデー(Ash Wednesday：聖灰水曜日)からイースター(Easter：復活祭)までの期間である レント(Lent：キリスト教の四旬節)に咲くことから付けられたといわれています。

 　実際の花は中心部にある線状のものが花で、花びらのようにみえるところは萼（ガク）だそうです。アジサイもそんな感じの花ですね。いろいろな色があり華やかで個性的、耐寒性と長寿命でもあるので非常に人気の高い花だそうです。

クリスマスローズという花をしっていますか？

私はレンテンローズとクリスマスローズは咲く時期が違うだけで同じ花だと思っていました。別種の植物らしいです。同じ花と思っていましたし。同属ですが何が違うのかというと。。。

ちなみにレンテンロ－ズはオリエンタリス（H. orientalis、）とクリスマスローズはニゲル（H. niger、）と呼んだりするとの事でした

●レンテン・ローズ　【ヘレボルス・オリエンタリス（H. orientalis）】

春咲きクリスマスローズとも呼ばれる。

日本では、3月～4月上旬に開花、草丈：40～60 cm、花の後ろにある苞葉は数枚に分裂し縁に鋸歯あり、苞葉は大きく目立つ、原種はピンク。花色(萼弁色)が赤や桃、白、緑色などの園芸種が作られている。草丈は40～60cmと高いです。

●クリスマスローズ【ヘレボルス・ニゲル（Helleborus niger）】

クリスマスに咲く花。

日本では、12月～翌年2月開花、草丈：20～30 cm、花の後ろにある苞葉は1枚で分裂せず縁は全縁（鋸歯：ギザギザが無い）で目立たない。花色（実際には、萼弁色）が白で冬咲き、原種は白。草丈は30cm以下と低いです。

今回はこの花のエピソードがもりもりでした。今、教会や幼稚園のいろいろなところで花を咲かせています。うつむいて咲く花なので少しわかりにくいかもしれませんが、白、ピンク、赤、緑の花がたのしめます！

レンテン　ローズ

2025 03 02 万作（まんさく）

 今年も教会のまんさく（万作）が咲いています。以前に書いたエピソードもぜひご一読ください！

万作（まんさく）

いち早く春の訪れを教えてくれる日本原産の落葉低木で、日本各地の山林にも自生しています

万作の基本情報は

学名：Hamamelis japonica

和名：マンサク（満作、万作）

その他の名前：ハマメリス

科名 / 属名：マンサク科 / マンサク属

花言葉は「ひらめき」「神秘」「幸福の再来」などです

緒形先生の「花こよみ」では境内で咲いているのは「岩戸万作」という名で、1963年に植えられたとのこと。

すこしご紹介します。。

【・・・早春の花は黄梅、ろう梅、まんさく、さんしゅう、土佐水木、伊予水木、連ぎょうと、黄色い花が先に咲く。エレミヤが見た”あめんどう”（アーモンド）は冬の目醒めの花であった。

「霊界の目醒めの花よ、わが庭に咲け」】

エレミヤ書1章はエレミヤが預言者としてのぞまれるところから始まります。主の言葉に対し「私は若者にしか過ぎない」というエレミヤ。対し主は「何が見える？」と問われエレミヤは「アーモンドの枝が見える」と答えます。そのあとに主は「わたしの言葉を成し遂げる。」と語られ、この1章のくくりには「彼らの前におののくな、わたしはあなたと共にいて救い出す」と若きエレミヤを励ましておられます。

緒形先生にとっては「万作」の花もまた、わが庭に咲く目醒めの花であり、そこにはエレミヤがアーモンドを見た時のように、励ましてくれる主の言葉があったのかな。なんて思ってしまいました。

ところで教会学校では、旧約聖書、これまた預言者サムエルさんのお話が続いています。

幼小科、中高科とありますが、中高科改め中高成人科となり、朝9:30から10時15分ごろまで賛美をして礼拝、聖書の学びをしています。成人の方も大歓迎なのです～！
